North Central States

  • Torrington Livestock Commission - Torrington WY
    Receipts: 380     Week Ago: 1029     Year Ago:  347
    Compared to a week ago, Slaughter and feeding cows traded 3.00 to 4.00 higher.  Slaughter bulls trading 3.00 higher on a limited test.  Slaughter and feeder cows consisted of 85 percent of the sale with 5 percent slaughter bulls. Remaining 10 percent consisted of feeder cattle heiferettes, and breds.

    Receipts:  3137    Last Week:  2739    Year Ago:  3500
    Compared to last week steers over 650 lbs sold mostly steady and heifers 600-800 lbs sold mostly steady. Demand was good from the buyers in the crowd. The calf and feeder supply included 46 percent steers and 54 percent heifers with near 90 percent of the run weighing over 600 lbs.
     

South Central States

    ***Close*** Compared to last week: Feeder steers 800-900 lbs sold mostly steady to 4.00 lower. Feeder heifers 750-900 lbs sold steady to firm on a limited test. Not enough calves for a market test. Overall, demand good to very good, quality mostly average to attractive. Slaughter cows sold steady to 1.00 lower. High dressing bulls sold 3.00 to 5.00 higher using a limited test. Feeder supply was 72 percent steers, 28 percent heifers, with 96 percent over 600 lbs.

    Compared to the last special two weeks ago, the best test on feeder steers were weighing 550-650 lbs sold fully steady, with 650-750 lbs on a light test sold with a lower undertone as overall quality and numbers were much lower than two weeks ago.  Feeder heifers weighing 500-700 lbs sold with a lower undertone on a light test as they were not as attractive as two weeks ago, 700-750 lbs heifers had a nice offering but were not well tested.

Western States

    Compared to last Thursday at the same market, not enough stocker or feeder cattle offered this week for accurate trends. Slaughter cows 1.00-2.00 higher. Slaughter bulls 1.00-6.00 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls remain in short supply. Trade active with good demand for all classes. Slaughter cows 80 percent, slaughter bulls 5 percent, and feeders 15 percent of the supply. The feeder supply included 41 percent steers and 59 percent heifers. Near 81 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
