The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending February 22 was 1,897,000, an increase of 42,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised down by 7,000 from 1,862,000 to 1,855,000. The 4-week moving average was 1,866,000, an increase of 2,750 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised down by 1,750 from 1,865,000 to 1,863,250.

The largest increases in initial claims for the week ending February 22 were in Massachusetts (+3,808), Rhode Island (+2,081), Illinois (+1,539), Wisconsin (+1,016), and Missouri (+973), while the largest decreases were in Kentucky (-3,074), California (-2,657), Tennessee (-2,550), Washington (-2,000), and Texas (-1,177).
